Through an exciting new project called Herb Hub, Big Local Gateshead, in partnership with Dilston Physic Garden, are creating opportunities for residents and organisations to create an herb corridor for nature and urban communities’ wellbeing to flourish.

The five herbs that will be cultivated through Herb Hub’s Community Programme are:

German Chamomile | Rosemary | Peppermint | Lemon balm | European Sage

These have been selected for their benefits on mood and memory and to target health conditions associated with our collective post pandemic stress, such as increased agitation, anxiety, low mood, disrupted sleep and increased stress.

Herb Hub is a chance for like-minded people and organisations to work together to create a healthier and happier area by:

- Providing opportunities, for people to engage in gardening activities in the community.

- Increasing awareness and knowledge of how certain plants benefit our health and wellbeing.

- Building a network of community growing spaces; to grow, harvest and explore everyday uses of these plants.
